GOD CAN USE YOU FRIEND! I kept hearing everyone rave about the television reality series, “Duck Dynasty” that airs on Wednesday evenings on the A&E channel. I watched it a few times but was not hooked until I heard Phil Robertson’s Christian testimony. You may not know this but Phil was the first string Quarterback for Louisiana Tech back in the 1960’s and Terry Bradshaw was actually his backup. As Phil tells it, he was a Hell raising, beer drinking, guy until he found Christ at the age of 28 years old. Besides being the patriarch Duck Commander, he is an ordained minister and has baptized over 300 people in the river behind his modest West Monroe, Louisiana home. His brother Silas Robertson may appear to be the foolish jokester, but he is quoted as saying, “I always travel with three things: a gallon jug of tea, my plastic cup [sent to him by his Ma’am while in Vietnam], and his Holy Bible. They are all active in the White’s Ferry Road church there in West Monroe, LA. If you have a moment please take a look at their story of faith (thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/tgc/2013/03/18/9-things-you-should-know-about-duck-dynasty/) If you think about it, these Duck Dynasty cast members may appear to be a bunch of Louisiana Rednecks, but they all have college degrees (save Si) and are pretty savvy in the business world. Besides, Jesus was considered a blue-collared worker with a lower-caste accent, yet He was able to shake the people of Israel as well as the people of the world with His message. While the religious leaders focused on legalism and Jewish isolationism, Jesus preached a message of love, humility, as well as restoration, and the need of salvation to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. The sadness in today’s society is that many have fallen for the demonic lies of Satan that their “god” will allow everyone into Heaven, but unfortunately they will die in their sins and be destroyed. God looks for people to be obedient to Him and have a heart and a willingness to search Him wherever He can use you. Why not seek Him and see what He will do in your life today friend?
