GOD LOOKS AT OUR LIVES AND EVALUATES OUR REPENTANCE !! Courtesy : brothermathewsvergis , christianwalkbible There are many who regularly attend church worship, conventions, meditations, fasting prayers and other church events. However very few realize that God looks not only their attitudes during those few hours spent in worship in His presence but also at their lives outside of worship. They will experience God’s mercy and grace when He is convinced that they have put into practice all that the Holy Spirit has exhorted them to do in the different areas of their lives to become new creations of Christ, to reject their evil ways, and to lead a transformed life. This can be seen in God’s response to the people of Nineveh. God sent His Prophet Jonah to warn the people of Nineveh that the city would be destroyed in forty days, as their wickedness had come before Him ( Jonah 3: 4 ). On hearing the warning from God, the people of Nineveh declared a fast. The king issued a proclamation stating that they should turn away from their evil ways and violence and turn to God in fasting and submission. Not only they but their animals too were not given anything to eat or drink. God didn’t change His decision immediately even after the entire nation had fasted and prayed before Him. ONLY WHEN GOD SAW THAT THEY HAD TRULY TURNED FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS DID HE HAVE COMPASSION ON THEM AND DID NOT BRING ABOUT THE DISASTER HE HAD PROCLAIMED ( Jonah 3:10 ) It is not when we fast, listen to God’s Word or make decisions out of repentance that God answers our prayers, instead, it is only when our decision to lead a righteous life is put into practice that God is pleased to bless us. CHILD OF GOD ! Will you realize that the transformation evidenced by your living after a fasting prayer is what brings down showers of blessing from heaven? REMEMBER ! True repentance should result in a transformation that is manifested through works.
