GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE PRESS RELEASE RE: ORU-OWERE 2015: POLITICIANS FLEX MUSCLES .Eze Njemanze Commends Rochas Over Infrastructure Governor of Imo State, weekend said Imo people would not vote a 419 person or a thief or a woman who beats her husband to be governor in 2015, adding that the person who will govern the state must be Godly, honest and decent by all standard so that the state can continue to move forward. The popular Oru-Owere festival was celebrated weekend with politicians from the State across the political parties especially those aspiring for elective positions including those with governorship ambitions attended in their large number which invariably turned the historical cultural event into a political show to a very large extent. However, Governor Rochas Okorocha visibly stole the show, right from the moment he arrived the venue of the event with his entourage including his deputy Prince Eze Madumere, upto the time he made his speech, the crowd could not stop shouting Owelle, Owelle, my governor, my governor, with the development reaching its climax when the Imo governor was invited to make his speech. The ovation was unprecedented which irked some of the aspirants present. In his speech, he said no 419 man or woman would govern the state in 2015, and no thief too will rule the state, and indeed, a woman who beats her husband cannot be the governor of the State, and so on, adding that those who do not appreciate what his government has been able to achieve in the State and who want to be governor only want to come and continue to feed on the treasury of the State. As the governor spoke the crowd continued o shout in excitement and the moment the governor ended his speech, the crowd surged towards him in acknowledgement of the wonderful speech, but the security agents did not give them, the chance to embrace him and they had no option than to accompany the convoy in their thousands out of the venue of the event with most of them withdrawing at Wetheral road while some continued upto the Government House. Earlier, the paramount ruler of Owerri, His Majesty Dr. Emmanuel Njemanze said his people “appreciate the infrastructural facilities the present administration under His Excellency Governor Rochas Okorocha has put in place which in its totality has given Owerri the State capital a new look that is non-secundus”. Eze Njemanze continued “Your Excellency we thank you for the bridges across River Nworie which have brought to limelight the true concept of the twin-city master plan of Owerri town with New Owerri across the bridges. Traffic conjection even at its peak periods has been minimized. There is a comparatively free flow of traffic in and out of the state capital”.
