#GTPD Community Advisory: GTPD Bicycle Safety Rodeo, Saturday May 3, 2014 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM The Gloucester Township Police Department is participating in Bicycle Safety Month by promoting and practicing safe techniques when riding a bicylce which is the first step in preventing bicycle-related injuries and deaths. In an effort to protect children from head injuries, The Gloucester Township Police Department will be hosting its Third Annual Bike Safety Rodeo. The Bike Safety Rodeo will take place on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, at the Gloucester Township Veterans Park which is located at the Municipal Building at 1261 Chews Landing Road Laurel Springs, NJ 08021 A Bicycle Safety Rodeo is a bicycle skills event which provides an opportunity for bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes. The goal of any bicycle rodeo is to provide an opportunity for the participants to learn, practice, and demonstrate their bicycle handling skills in a fun, noncompetitive atmosphere. All riders will have their bicycle and safety helmet inspected. The Gloucester Township Police Department wants to encourage children and parents to not just wear a bicycle helmet but to wear them correctly. Gloucester Township has an avid and growing bicycle community. We want to make the sport safe for people to enjoy, free of injury.
