Gangtok, 23 July14: Sikkims main opposition party the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has strongly condemned the statements made by the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling in a function at Yangang, South Sikkim. In his address the chief minister had stated that all developmental works would be diverted to the South and West district where the SDF had won. The SKM has taken strong objection on the Chief Ministers remark and has termed it as undemocratic, unethical, anti-national and anti-people. In a press release the party states that the fundamental duty of every government was to work for every citizen without any discrimination on the basis of cast, creed, religion or political affiliation. The party has also accused the Chief Minister of working against the basic fundamentals of democracy and good governance. Furthermore the party has dared the Chief minister not to discriminate the North and East district in terms of development or he would have to face the wrath of the Sikkimeese janta and that he alone would be held responsible for any untoward incident that would follow. The partys release also accuses the government of being unsympathetic towards the college students and has criticized the governments decision of closing down educational institutions in the state without a valid reason and pointed out that the notification issued for the purpose did not mention any reason behind the decision.
