Gardening with the color Orange What colors go with orange? Almost all of them! Both bold and pale oranges blend particularly well with blue - their compliment on the color wheel. Fiery orange blooms combined with blues and yellows will create a fantastic border display. Orange also works well with purple since both contain red values. Lilacs and lavenders will set off deep orange flowers. Orange combined with lime green brings out the yellow values in both colors and adds brightness to shady areas. If you feel a bit more daring, try mixing orange flowers with pink. The combination is a little more startling, but can work very well in the right spot. Soften the effect with whites or pale yellows.
