Genetic engineering is just an extension of natural breeding EU - TopicsExpress

Genetic engineering is just an extension of natural breeding EU legislation defines GMOs as organisms in which “the genetic material has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination.” So completely the opposite of natural! GM crops are safe to eat and more nutritious GM crops can be toxic, allergenic or less nutritious than their natural counterparts GM crops are strictly regulated for safety Amazingly, GM crops are safely-tested by the same companies that develop them. Plus regulations vary from non-existent (USA) to weak(EU) GM crops increase yields GM crops haven’t delivered on their promise of increased yield, in many cases they’ve actually produced less GM crops need fewer pesticides and herbicides If only! GM crops have led to herbicide-resistant superweeds, and in the US, increased pesticide use by an estimated 7%* And its expected to rise! GMO crops will help feed the world GMOs can’t solve world hunger and instead distract from the key issues of poverty, lack of access to food and increasingly, lack of access to land to grow it on. GMOs are labelled so you can choose to avoid them – the choice is all yours UK legislation requires GM foods to be labelled, but this doesn’t include things made with meat, dairy or eggs from animals reared on GM feed. The sure way to be GM-free is to choose organic. Nyro
