George Albert Vestal February 9, 1926 - November 18, 2013 George Albert Vestal, 87, of Independence died November 18th at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Christian Church. Pastor Milton Jones will officiate with the assistance of Joe Nichols. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. The family suggests memorials to Community Christian Church and memorials may be left with the chapel. Mr. Vestal was born February 9, 1926 near Longton, KS to Garrett and Florence Stephens Vestal. He attended Country Public School south of Longton graduating from the 8th grade. Mr. Vestal had been a farmer and raised cattle. He enjoyed restoring Farmall Cub Tractors and spending time with his family. Mr. Vestal married Margaret Bright on October 22, 1950 at the Nazarene Church in Elk City. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home. A daughter, Pam McKenzie and husband Bob of Independence. A son, Stephen Vestal and wife Teresa of Independence, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a half-brother, Harold Vestal of Amarillo, TX and a step-sister, Betty Olmstead of Parsons, KS.
