George Schneider- The effort to crush Internet freedom has begun locally. The announcement by Google that they want to spend a huge amount of $$$ to put in megaspeed fiber all over the Metro area is the bait on the hook. Google, of course, is the IT company which takes your private data and manipulates it to enrich themselves. There is plenty of highspeed capability here already, so why does Google want to re-do all of it? The answer is simple: Google wants to control all Internet access. Google totally gives the Government what it wants, & Im sure the handshake has already been made, Karl Mcdade. Google gets the revenue, the monopolistic right to boot those already in the biz, and the Government gets the control. I will be asking the Mayor of Gresham about his support of Googles plan at the next City Council meeting.
