George and Dick share SOME of the memorable movies that meet the test: Movies I will always want to see again and again. What are some of yours? DICK- first 5- with another top 5 in coming next week. NOT rank ordered here: From Here To Eternity, 1951. Fabulous film depicting military life in Hawaii just prior to the Pearl Harbor attack. Great script, stellar cast, with Burt Lancaster, Deborah Kerr, Montgomery Clift, supporting Oscars to Frank Sinatra and Donna Reed, The famous kiss on the beach says it all. My Coousin Vinny, 1992. Clash of cultures, great court room antics, memorable characters. Joe Pesci takes the lead, Marissa Tomei grabs the Oscar for supporting role. A great comedy depicting hilarious court room antics. Ill never forget the memorable line, “Whats a UTE?” Dr Strangelove, 1964. Peter Sellers times 3 as Dr Stranglove, Captain Mandrake, and President Muffley. One of Kubricks finest films, with a great supporting cast: George C. Scott,Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, Slim Pickens, and making his screen debut, James Earl Jones. Humorous depiction of the Cold War, playing off a Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids. Great line! Rebel Without A Cause, 1955. Phenom cast, James Dean, Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, and making his debut, Dennis Hopper. An American drama about emotionally confused teens, it was released right after James Deans untimely death. Dean was so cool in that red jacket, and I identified wth his rebel role. Casablanca, 1942. My all time favorite film. Great script, great story, great acting, fabulous sountrack, and of course those many memorable lines. The truly international cast includes, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreit, Cloaude Rains, and Peter Lorre. Great depiction of love, lost love honor, and duty during a time of world conflict. The final scene is a real hearetbreaker.
