Getting to know the Unknowable God I was pretty sure I had no - TopicsExpress

Getting to know the Unknowable God I was pretty sure I had no idea what I was doing the first time I got up in front of a group of people to “lead” them in worship. Granted it was a summer camp with elementary age kids but that’s almost worst. They have no problem telling you you’re terrible, they haven’t quite developed the “You shouldn’t say that” part of the brain yet. Worse than that I had only been playing guitar for about 4 weeks max, practicing each night after the kids in my cabin went to sleep. But greater than my lack of talent and ability at that moment I remember thinking these kids are expecting me, through this music, to introduce them to God and right there around a bonfire with 200 kids I began to experience the great divide between what I want to express about God and the evident lack of actual information about who He is. I could sing songs that others wrote about Him but I was painfully aware of my lack of actual first-hand experience. That’s the danger in an over-informed, celebrity obsessed culture. We actually believe we know people we have had no actual contact with and it is the same in the Church. We sing about God, hear stories about God, read about others encounters, but have little to no tangible information about who He is or what He likes. We can’t tell others about someone we don’t know. No wonder our evangelism is dumbed down to throwing around verses at people to try and “cure” there sin instead of lead them to love. We are in a drought dying of thirst but have no idea where the well is. It’s time to look deep into the scriptures and find out what they say about the God of eternity. He is in there, He is accessible, He is a mystery, and He is radically in love with you. On June 18 we launch our first session of Enter/Action on this topic; Discovering the Character and Nature of God or maybe its better said, “Getting to know the Unknowable God”. Either way we are going to dive deep into the word and our roots and explore what the Bible actually says about who God is. Our platform with GoToTraining allows us to interact during the session so that you can ask questions, make comments and we can actually dialogue together. Space is limited so register today or get more information at jakehamiltonmusic/enteraction
