Give voice to your local heroes through….. -Community Champion 2013- Dear Sir/Madam, As Ireland’s leading supplier of rural energy solutions, Calor understands the work carried out each day by unsung heroes in local communities across the island of Ireland. In 2012, Calor launched the inaugural ‘Calor Community Champion 2012’ to give recognition and £8,500 reward to those who go above and beyond the call, who get things done, and work tirelessly each day to improve the lives of the people around them. For us as a company, it was a wonderful platform to shine a light on the wonderfully selfless work going on in communities across the length and breadth of the island. This summer, celebrity chef and broadcaster Paula McIntyre and the team at Calor are looking for your help to choose the Calor Community Champion 2013. The winner of the Calor Community Champion 2013 will receive £1,300 and a bursary of £6,500 to give to their nominated charity or local organisation, as well as £400 for the two runners-up. Calor will even throw in £400 for the person or organisation that nominated the. Nominations to crown this year’s champion will close on September 30th. To enter and nominate your local hero could not be easier: Stage 1 – Nominations • Nominations are open now, simply Like the Calor Facebook page, go to the Community Champions app and tell us in 250 words why your nomination should win. It only takes a few minutes and you could win £400 if you nominate the winner! • The deadline for receiving nominations is midnight on September 30th. Stage 2 – Voting • Nominations received will be reviewed, and 32 ‘Community Champions’ will be chosen from across the island. • On October 4th, the top 32 local champions will be put to the public vote through our Facebook app. The nominees will be displayed in the ‘Gallery of Nominees’, where you can view their details and pitch to win! Public voting will close on October 31st. • The public will then have several weeks to vote for their favourite. Stage 3 – Judging • The Calor Community Champion 2013 will be chosen by your Judging Panel which will be led by TV and radio personality, Síle Seoige, GAA broadcasting legend, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh, supported by Paula McIntyre and Mary Geraty from Calor. • The top four as voted for the public will go through to the final phase, plus two ‘wildcards’ as chosen by the judges. Stage 4 – Winner announced • It all comes to an end on November 6th, with the announcement of the Calor Community Champion 2013! We are looking for as many nominations as possible, from every corner and county of Ireland so help us to spread the word and give the unsung hero in your community the recognition they deserve.
