Giving dawah and teaching Islam is a great honour. Dont think that, by teaching or giving dawah, youre doing anyone else a favour; rather, it is YOU who have been favoured and blessed by Allah (if you are sincere). We should be forever grateful to Allah for this blessing! And this includes being humble and not expecting preferential treatment just because one is a teacher, imam or dai. Nor should we ever think that, as teachers or preachers, we are better than others. Knowledge / teaching / preaching alone are not indicators of piety and closeness to Allah. The same goes for any other act of worship too. For example, when one gives charity, one should never feel that one is doing a favour to that poor person. Rather, Allah has been kind and generous to YOU by guiding you to that deed. Likewise, dont think youre doing Allah a favour by praying the night prayer. YOU are the who has been favoured, if you are sincere. May Allah make us sincere, keep us sincere, and accept all our deeds. Amin.
