Glynis McCants From October 21st to November 10th Mercury will be in Retrograde. Though Mercury in Retrograde is a more familiar term in Astrology, as a Numerologist I have seen over and over what a huge difference Mercury Retrograde can make in our ability to communicate. I am a double 3 in Numerology, and ease in communication is one of my Numerology gifts. So, whenever I start experiencing communication breakdowns, I instantly think to myself, Oh, is Mercury in retrograde again? And sure enough, it is! No matter what your personal numbers are, when there are breakdowns in all forms of communication, you will be affected as well! Below are various ways that Mercury in Retrograde interferes with communication, and some advice on how to handle it: If you send an email or text to someone, and they do not respond, do not assume they got it. Just send it again during this time. If you are talking to someone on the phone and you feel that you are talking in circles, do not take it personally. Just say, You know what? I will send you a note detailing my thoughts and we will discuss this further after you have a moment to read it. The biggest mistake you can make when Mercury is in Retrograde is taking miscommunication personally. If there is someone in your life, who is usually good with their words, and suddenly they sound blunt and in-your-face, you will now understand why. What is interesting is that all planets go retrograde at various times, but its Mercury that makes this difference in our interactions. Why is that? It is because Mercury rules communication, clear thinking, truth, and travel. So when Mercury goes retrograde, if you have to travel during this time period, be sure to double-check your itinerary. Make an effort to get to the airport early, and keep a detailed list of everything you need to bring with you to avoid forgetting something you really needed ( like your child!! :)) If you have a job proposal, or something you want to pitch to somebody, you may want to hold off until after November 10th. However, if you already have a meeting that is set up, just be clear that when someone is talking to you, and it doesnt quite make sense, it is okay to slow down, and repeat back to them what you believe they said. This will help you avoid the mistake of leaving the meeting thinking you know what they want, and you turn out to be completely wrong! If you are normally a major communicator, Mercury Retrograde is a good time to work on other things in your life. How many books or papers are not where they should be in your home or office? This is a great time to put everything back in its place. It will help you feel more focused. One mistake people can make when Mercury goes Retrograde is wanting to hide out and not deal with people. Well that is not realistic and since you are aware of what is really happening, you can still get a lot done! During this time, without fail is trouble with electronics such as computers, cell phones etc...if your computer keeps freezing up, you can just smile and say, Oh Yeah, its Mercury Retrograde. If you are talking to someone, and the cell phone goes dead and you know you are in an area with good cell phone reception, just remember what is really causing it instead of getting upset. The more you do not take it personally, the easier your path will be during this chaotic time. If you can put off signing any contracts until after the Nov. 10th, I suggest you do so. However, If you have to sign a contract, make sure you go through it with a fine tooth comb. Do not be too quick to sign , and really take your time with the small print. To recap: From Oct 21st through November 10th, if there is something you hear that does not make sense to you, ask for clarity. It is perfectly alright to say, By the way, the reason Im asking again is because Mercury is in Retrograde. Some heads will shake in agreement, and some eyebrows may go up. Many people know what it means, but if they do not, you can be the smart one in the room who tells them all about it!
