Goal Kings of Euro Sunday’s match against Almeria was not - TopicsExpress

Goal Kings of Euro Sunday’s match against Almeria was not only a good comeback from the loss in Anoeta to boost the team’s confidence, it’s also a statement to what the team is really about. Although there’s still 12 matches left in the league, it’s still worth it to say that Barça have been rocking Europe with their stats. Barça are currently leading Europe in most goals scored in the league with 74 goals, while they also lead the continent in most goals scored in 2014. Not to mention the stats that show off the team’s dynamic goalscoring ability, which is ironic because it’s that very same team that used to be labeled as a “one man team” for the past few seasons. Check out the stats right after the jump. 1) European leaders: FC Barcelona took the lead with 74 goals scored so far in La liga, which is just one higher than free goalscoring rivals Real Madrid with 73 goals. But not only is Barça ruling Spain, they’ve also beat other leagues top scoring teams as well. Liverpool are currently leading the charts in England with 73 goals, Bayern Munich as usual tops Germany’s top flights with 66 goals. Paris Saint-Germain hit 64 goals so far this season in Ligue 1, while Juventus has 62 goals in Serie A. 2) Highest goal-scoring ratio: With most goals scored this season comes the highest goal-scoring ratio of 2.8 goals/game. That ratio was achieved in 26 games, and it looks like it’ll last with the team’s current form. This ratio is more or less the same with Real Madrid and German leaders Bayern Munich (who have only played 23 games this season). Liverpool has an average of 2.6 while PSG and Juventus have a 2.3 ratio. 3) Three players on form: In La Liga, Barça currently has three players who have scored more than 10 goals this season. Alexis Sanchez leads the team with 16 goals, with Messi surprisingly coming second with 15 goals to his name, while Pedro has 13 goals to his name. The list goes up to five players if we’re counting goals scored in all competition, which will include Cesc Fabregas and newly signed Neymar Jr. 4) 15 different goal scorers: One man team? Messi-dependence? I don’t think so. Only Ajax and Arsenal have edged the Catalans to the number of players to have scored, with 16 each. Barça currently has 15 of their players to have hit the net this season in all competitions, which is on par with Bayern Munich and AC Milan who also have 15 each. These 15 players are: Messi (27), Alexis (18), Pedro (17), Cesc (13), Neymar (12), Tello, Xavi, Adriano, and Piqué (all with 4), Busquets and Alves (with 3), Puyol (2), Bartra, Iniesta and Dongou (all with 1). 5) Most goals in 2014: Barça have been enjoying the new year, which looks like it’ll be a good one. They currently lead Europe with 45 goals in 2014. That’s right, 45 goals in only 16 matches. Real Madrid currently has 42 goals, Bayern Munich (41), Manchester city (38) and Liverpool (34).
