God Showed Me His Love This morning at the English corner (just imagine a little bit of church with some English lessons, Chinese style), there was a man who showed up early who was on a crutch. When he came up, he nearly fell down. I helped him over to a small garden wall to sit down. He obviously had experienced a stroke. His speech wasnt clear, but, he wanted to talk in English. He didnt smell great, but, I got close enough because I wanted to hear what he was trying to say. No one could understand. Not even me. I kindly asked him several times to repeat what he was saying because I really wanted to know. More than anything, I wanted to acknowledge him for coming out so early and getting there. I know it wasnt an easy journey no matter how far he had to come. Finally, I figured out what he was trying to say. He said, I love you for what you do for us. I nearly ended up in tears but I didnt let myself think about it too deeply before responding, I love you for making the effort to come here today to tell me that. You are a brave and strong man. I saw his gratitude in his eyes even though he didnt try to say anything else. He had said what hed come to say and so it seemed, that was enough. If you ever think that God doesnt love you, think again. He sent a seemingly broken down old Chinese man to let me know today. Bill Gates could never feel what I felt today. My life is amazing. I didnt make a billion dollar deal today. But, I got something that a billion dollars couldnt come close to. All I feel is gratitude to God for putting me in this wondrous place.
