God does not intend for us to consider Him a stern Judge peering - TopicsExpress

God does not intend for us to consider Him a stern Judge peering over the bench at the accused. Yet many believers have this very perception of Him. For some reason they never get out of the courtroom and in to the family room. God is always a Judge, never a Father. This view is so unfortunate. But even worse, it s a precursor to doubting the doctrine of eternal security. Ive talked with Christians who live with the fear that the gavel may strike again--this time with a guilty verdict. The good news is that after the Judge pronounced you and me not guilty, He walked from behind the bench and welcomed us into His family. The days of the courtroom are over. That is apparent from Johns gospel: Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My words, and believes Him Who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. (John 5:24... emphasis from C.S on does not come into judgment)
