God is looking for willing people. The needs are great but the workers are few. He is looking for both skilled and unskilled, equipped and unequipped, young and old, rich and poor, male and female. Gifts, talents and abilities are always a plus; but a teachable spirit, positive attitudes and a servants heart are most important. The challenge has always been finding available and willing people. The story of the call of Isaiah should be a common story; Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then I said, Here am I. Send me! (Isaiah 6:8) Sometimes Gods voice comes in the form of a nudge or whisper in your heart. Other times it is an inner burden that cannot be shaken. Frequently it comes in the form of being aware of a need and realizing you have the supply at hand. More often it is the Holy Spirit using verses from the Bible, a sermon you hear or something you read. The bottom line is that the Holy Spirit is tapping you on the shoulder and saying, I have a task for you! The call can be big or seemingly small. It can relate to going on a mission trip or supporting those who are going. It can relate to teaching a class or merely speaking a timely word of encouragement to someone. It can relate to setting aside a season for prayer, fasting and intercession or it can relate to faithfully lifting up a moment of prayer when God prompts you. Sometimes what seems small or insignificant to you is huge from Gods Vantage point. Giving a cup of cold water might seen trivial to you, but it can be the difference between life and death to someone dying of thirst. Giving a smile, hug or pat on the back might not seem worth the effort to you, but can be a life line to those who are down and discouraged. Going on a short term mission trip might seem like a waste of time and money to you, but can be life transforming for both you and those to whom God sends you. Helping with a building project might not seem as noble as preaching a message, but it might provide the tools for a national pastor or worker to preach the gospel for years to come. God is in charge of the big picture, He needs willing and faithful people to make up the small pieces of the puzzle. Let me ask a few questions. First, are you listening? That implies that you are in tune with the Spirit of God. It means you have a way of discerning His voice. Second, are you willing? That implies that you are ready to obey Gods leading in your life. It comes down to a daily walk in the Spirit. Every big thing involves many small things pieced together.
