Going to Iraq again is just crazy. It us just a no win action that simply aligns us with American foreign policy and is just what the Islamic State wants - a show down with the west which they perceive quite wrongly as being Christian. IS are running on a 1400 year old prophecy of conflict between Islam and Christians. Just stay out of the way and there will be no conflict. There is absolutely nothing in it for Australia except an increased security/terrorist risk. It is high time we took an independent stance and realised that Uncle Sam is not coming to save us if we really are under threat. Our greatest defence is our isolation, and if our leaders had the guts to assert our independence, that would strength our position.
