Well, Ive been thinking about this for a long (long, long) time. Lets hope Ive thought about it enough. Today is the last day I plan to indulge myself in less-than-ideal health and life choices. I think it will be better for me to make a drastic all-reaching change than trying to do it piecemeal. More in the manner of using a scythe than clippers at harvest. What I hope to accomplish is to transform myself with specific actions by a number of ways--turn my back on highly-processed foods (mainly frozen), high fructose corn syrup (sugar in general), be less sedentary, bring my consumption of red meat down, introduce more fresh veggies, interface with friends and strangers more, increase my work on creative projects (this one is a favorite), reduce stress (meditation, exercise, etc), and just generally live a more healthful life, both physically and mentally. I expect friends to be supportive, but in no way responsible. This is my baby. I am basically going to attempt to create Chad 2.0. Chad 1.0 has had a great run, over half a century, but an upgrade is in order. Now Im not saying Ill be perfect. I want to eat a nice steak now and again, and I want to lull in front of the boobtube occasionally. It just seems that at the moment Im lacking the behaviors any sane person would agree are beneficial to ones overall well-being. My friends and family need not think that I will suddenly become intolerant of behaviors I have eschewed. Thats not my style. Its just that, at this moment in my life, I want to chase after, capture, and adopt a behavioral philosophy that, I feel, will greatly improve my enjoyment of being. Think of it as a period at the end of a sentence that closes a chapter. Were on to a new chapter now, one Im sure will continue to hold conflicts, disappointments, and challenges. However, this new chapter will be greatly influenced by its main protagonist . . . me. The experiment begins!
