Going to leave the event page as I have no intention of going due to the possible/probable presence of AVfM - Something to talk about when Men’s Issues Awareness comes to Queen’s University at its inaugural event this Thursday, March 27! CAFE representatives will be present and we’re looking forward to a great show. avoiceformen/allbulletins/motion-to-deratify-mens-issues-student-group-at-queens-university-fails/ - Ive said most of what I wanted to say for now, but am putting together a compilation of academic feminist and anti-racist work in order to critique the misogynist and racist points that Janice Fiamengo has raised multiple times in her work. I was hoping to get it done before Thursday, but this looks fairly difficult to accomplish. At any rate, upon finishing, I will share my critiques with various departments within Queens and universities across Ontario. If you are an individual interested in such a compilation, obviously feel free to message me privately for it. As stated previously, CAFE and AVfM create deeply hostile spaces on campus, promote misogyny, etc. And *anyone* going should be aware that this group will be present as stated on their webpage. I was already not planning to go for a myriad of reasons, but this is sort of the final hammer in the coffin, so to speak. People supporting CAFE or AVfM or this talk: you have made survival for marginalised groups more difficult. People wanting a mens issues space: I encourage you to find one because certainly those issues deserve speaking about - but I encourage you to find one that doesnt draw the misogynists out of the woodwork.
