Going to see Selma this evening. And, in recognition of how far we have had to come (and still, frankly, have to go) combined with the spirit of a football playoff weekend, I just finished watching Remember the Titans, with Denzel Washington. The Reverand Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great man, a great leader, a great American. We do right to honor his life today. But Coach Herman Boone teaches us that that we do not need a national stage to have a positive impact and make a difference in the lives of those with whom we come into contact. This year has exposed the lie of a post racial American society. I pledge to continue to confront my racism, to challenge my thinking, to lift up the voices of the oppressed, and to stand back, when I should be silent. #BlackLivesMatter
