Golf Cart Owner / Operator Advisory from Galveston Police Department to Increase Enforcement Efforts on Golf Carts (GALVESTON, TX) August 4, 2014 – Galveston Police Department will step up enforcement efforts on Golf Cart operators in Galveston. The crackdown is in response to a multitude of complaints from citizens and neighborhood associations. Primary concerns include unlicensed operators (children and teenagers), driving in prohibited areas (beach), failing to follow traffic laws and city ordinances, as well as operating a golf cart while intoxicated. These infractions will not be condoned and violators may be cited or arrested. In addition, violations could lead to the golf cart being impounded. The Galveston Police Department urges citizens and visitors to contact the department with any information concerning violations of the golf cart ordinance, or operation of a golf cart in an unsafe or illegal manner.
