Gonna take a sentimental journey, sentimental journey home.” --Les Brown and His Band of Renown, 1944 Arlo Fay gave the staff at Madonna Rehabilitation Specialty Hospital a memorable farewell. The 84-year-old from Sioux City, Iowa, twirled them around a makeshift dance floor during his final therapy session. “Who’s next?” he called out, a smile breaking across his weathered face, blue eyes sparkling. After a July stroke, Arlo couldn’t walk or talk. “I’ve been trying to lead the pack since I got here!” said Arlo, whose favorite dance partner is his wife of 57 years, Madonna (yes, like the hospital). “It was love at first sight,” confessed Arlo, who’s been Madonnas caregiver the past five years. “It’s killed me being away from her,” said the retired Air Force sergeant. Tomorrow night, Arlo and Madonna will reunite to cheer on their grandson’s football team. “It was my life and I’ve got it back, said Arlo.
