Good Boys Adventure Walk: Hi Mason, Kona, and Nellie, Thank you for springing so many shelter dogs this spring! I had the pleasure of taking out Good Boy from Richmond Animal Control Center. Good Boy is not only a shelter favorite, but a dog I have met before and felt very strongly for. He has been at the shelter for quite awhile, and has great qualities and is very easy to be around. Good Boy may have one of the most gentle hearts I have ever seen in a dog. Hes a medium to large sized lab mix with a cropped tail and a goofy face. He has very low energy, but when I went to take him out for the day I spotted him all the way down the hall and he started doing spins when I came near him. Once I had him on leash he walked beautifully, and I helped him into my truck which he gratefully accepted. He was calm as we drove over to Hollywood cemetery, a place I like to take dogs with less energy who just want to go for a stroll. On our drive over he was very happy to receive pets. Once we got to the cemetery, he popped out no problem! He was very content taking it easy and staying on the grass, unfortunately his pads havent adapted to the hot asphalt so whenever we were on it he would hop around and look for the nearest shady spot or grassy area. We stuck to those areas but I could tell within the hour that he was exhausted. He isnt used to getting that much of a workout so his muscles arent as strong as most. I helped him back into my truck and took him to a secluded gated area near my house that has a large tree and plenty of grass to wander around on. My partner came up and brought our dog, who Good Boy has already met and befriended. They explored the area together like old pals, even though they didnt interact too much with one another. After that Good Boy zonked out on the ground and we rubbed his belly, which he loves! Our dog said his farewells and we took Good Boy back to the shelter. I went to check on him yesteday, and great news for Good Boy! The SPCA came and picked him up to hold at their shelter. He is still available for adoption, and I have no doubt that someone is going to snatch this catch right up. Thanks again to the three of you- so much- for giving Goody Boy a little bit of light while he waits for someone to give him his forever home. He is going to do wonderful and get along great no matter where he goes. Good Boy is available with Richmond Animal Care and Control.
