Good Morning. In Matt 23, the Jesus addresses a fundamental problem that the Pharisees had. Being the Spiritual leaders of the church, these men had placed themselves in a position of greatness. They sought after the most prominent seat in the Sanctuary and banquets. They must always be seen as being “the head and not the tail”. But Jesus found this attitude repulsive. The same way Jesus saw the attitude of the Pharisees repulsive in his days on the earth; He sees such attitude exhibited by any church leader today in the same manner. Jesus set the record clear about what He expects from every Spiritual leader in the church. In verse 11 and 12 Jesus said, “11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” Greatness is not about being served by others. Greatest is not about having the most prominent place in the Sanctuary. The Great God and Creator who owns every single thing is this universe was born in a stable and became a servant to mankind. Through His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary we have the opportunity to forgo the “wages of our sin”. If the Creator of the universe could serve mankind, we should have no problem serving others. What does it really mean to be a servant? The Strong’s Concordance defines the original Greek word for servant in this manner – “one who executes the commands of another, esp. of a master, a servant, attendant, minister.” I pray that the Spiritual leaders in our church will see the need to continue to humble themselves and remain a servant of the people of God. Unless we are willing to follow the example of Jesus in this area of our live we stand the chance of allowing our selfishness to stop us from gaining eternal life. Servant Of All - https://youtube/watch?v=ZRkUym6p2j0 Have a blessed and Holy Spirit-filled day.
