Good Morning, Milliken Friends, There is much that could be said - TopicsExpress

Good Morning, Milliken Friends, There is much that could be said about todays CBE reading. I find that the long list of ancestry listed in Matthew 1 can be a truely exhausting workout for the English brain (and tongue). But I found it interesting that verse 17 points out the number of generations between each big move put in place by God the Father. It seems to tell us that our God likes order, and is interested in now things happen over time. It also reminds us Gentiles just how imortant an event the exile was. Pain sort of sticks with you.... I like the action of Joseph in verse 19. He was righteous. He didnt want to make a big, ugly, dramatic scene. He did have a right to publicly defend his character and honor. But his thoughtful and gracious love for Mary kept him from making a public spectacle. And he had resolved that kind response BEFORE the angel told him the real situation! I hope that I can also avoid the temptation toward defensive responses. How about you? God bless you as you read today! Pastor George
