Good Morning Uganda - a Country where every ruler even at small levels wishes they can be endorsed as sole candidates. The politics of sole candidate started in 2001 when the gallant son of Rukungiri declared his presidential bid. My home District Bushenyi refused to endorse the NRM Sole candidate then and the then Campaign Manager for the M7 in charge of Western Uganda, Hon Nuwe Amanya Mushega called on Bushenyi residents not to abuse the tenets of democracy. He clearly stated that democracy provides for free choice of the voters and if this free choice can be denied, then it is useless to hold elections! Yesterday, we had another dramatic headline : Ruhaama pushes for First Ladys sole candidature! THE BIG QUESTIONS: Is this sole candidate business a family disease? If some people are not democratic, what are they looking for in the democratic market? When will the first lady be announced the New Chairperson of the NRMs Womens League?
