Good afternoon. While it is decidedly not a great day to hang around outside enjoying an ice cream cone, it is a wonderful evening to relax with a nice bottle of wine while munching on some delicious food. I’ll start with the food. Chef Russ made up some crab cakes that can’t be beat. They are in our fish case and are a snap to cook up – just sauté them in a little olive oil for a minute or two on each side, until they are golden brown. Freshly made, freshly sautéed crab cakes – yum! Now how about that glass of wine? I had the pleasure of drinking the Echeverria Chardonnay earlier this week and enjoyed it very much. What makes this chardonnay so unique is that it is aged in stainless steel barrels. This “unwooded” chardonnay retains a purity of flavor, with aromas of peach and pineapple, combined with citrus notes. Active in Chilean agriculture, grape growing and winemaking since 1740, the Echevarria family established their current vineyard and winery in 1923 in the outskirts of Molina, a town in the Curico Valley. The family uses organic, sustainable practices on their 200 acre vineyard, producing high-quality wines in limited quantities that are a great value. See you soon…
