Good afternoon to all (particularly females, whom this message primarily concerns), Today I ask you this: are you looking for something to do from the 17th-22nd August? Are you worried that your August will be so hideously mundane that you will only look back upon it with tears of sorrow for the time you misspent? Would you like to escape the bleakness of Bangor and embark on an exhilarating mission to the north-west of our glorious island? “John, enough with the rhetorical questions already! This thing that you’re suggesting sounds FLIPPING AWESOME! Can you please tell me more?” I hear you cry. All in good time my friend, all in good time. Your questions will be answered. The thing which I am describing is an SU camp to lead a kids’ club in the village of Convoy, Donegal. When one thinks “Donegal” the things which spring to mind are beaches, surfing, outstanding scenery, cute little Irish villages. Convoy offers the opportunity to see Donegal in a totally new light: in Convoy there are no beaches, no surfing, no outstanding scenery, and the word “cute” is omitted from the term “cute little Irish village”. Last week, Tim Crothers informed me that there is a lack of female leaders for Convoy and urged me to ask people from HRPC. I forgot, and today (with a slightly greater tone of urgency) he once again pleaded with me to do so. Already (from HRPC) Jack, Isaac, Mark, Paddy and I are going. If you are going into 5th year or older, you are most welcome to join the team.
