Good morning KnitWits for Madiba. I hope that you have all had a good 67 hour rest! Thank you all for all your hard work in keeping people less fortunate warm this winter. When I originally started this initiative I was not sure whether it would be possible to rise to the challenge that Zelda la Grange presented to me - to have 67 handmade blankets ready for Madiba Day. Well, with your help, enthusiasm, dedication and sheer hard work, we have handed out just on 4000 blankets (that we are aware of) in South Africa alone, in the name of our beloved Madiba. Now is only the beginning!! KnitWits for Madiba, we have now become an international movement! From the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you who rose to the challenge and in making this dream a reality. And now the work begins all over again!! I hope that we are going to hear the loud country-wide clickety-clack of needles!! Wouldnt it be fantastic to have a SEA of blankets at the feet of Madiba at the Union Buildings? An aerial photo to be taken in February 2015 depicting what we as a nation are continuing to do in the name of Nelson Mandela. If we do this, we will have an iconic photograph that could become historical. We will also succeed in keeping many more THOUSANDS of people warm next winter. Please put the word out to friends, children, brothers, sisters, teachers, aunts, uncles, schools, offices, churches, clubs, taxis, neighbours, studios, hair salons, grocery shops - EVERYWHERE!!!
