Good morning and a happy Thursday morning to you all. Wow this - TopicsExpress

Good morning and a happy Thursday morning to you all. Wow this week is speeding on by, is it not? May I ask a question this morning? Have you ever ignored the conviction that God has placed upon your heart? I know that I have. Maybe we have rationalized our wrongdoings with the thought that if God were really upset, Hed put a stop to what I am doing by disciplining me? Wait a minute, maybe you are asking, “what is conviction?” Well conviction is a firm belief or opinion of guilt. In other words God has convicted you of sin, or He has caused you to feel guilty about your sin. Hear ye the Word of God. “These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:21-23) I am convinced that these verses remind us that the silence of heaven does not mean approval. Remaining in sin is an abuse of the Lords patience. Folks when God seems slow to react to the sins of a person or of a nation, it does not mean that He is overlooking our transgressions. Maybe we’d like to continue in sin because the momentary pleasure is more appealing than obedience? But praise God, Jesus knows our weaknesses and the state of our spiritual growth, and He therefore measures His response. Motivated by love and a desire to gently restore His children to righteousness, God refrains from giving out immediate punishment. Instead, He waits for the Holy Spirits prodding to impact the believers heart. The weight of conviction is really an invitation to turn from wrongdoing and return to godliness. But most of us if not all of us are stubborn people. There are times when we persist in sin because the sentence against an evil deed isnt executed quickly. In this dangerous situation, its possible to immerse ourselves in sin and harden our hearts against the Lord. Then the Holy Spirits call to repentance falls on spiritual deaf ears. Amen? Folks as we learn and understand more about God and His ways, we are more responsible to live righteously. Jesus is not slow, Hes patient. Do not abuse His patience with callous disregard for His statutes. Repent and be holy in the sight of the Lord. Amen and Amen! Convicted? Then Repent! Loving You In Jesus Christ, Pastor David McGee
