Good morning and welcome to day 14 of art 21 days of prayer and fasting. Today pastor Phils dad, Dr. Garry Spriggs, shares the morning devotional: FILLED WITH AWE The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. (Psalm 65:8 NIV) Living near the Atlantic Ocean has afforded me numerous opportunities to stand in awe as the sun peeks over the horizon. It sends its glowing red rays across the waters and reflects them from the billowing clouds above. At times it seems the edges of the formations are like burning embers as a camp fire begins to die down. I know of no other sight that brings such emotion to soul. God at work. Awesome. Its morning. Across the fruited plains are other sights that bring awe of Gods creation. The misty cover of the Smokies, the mightiness of the Mississippi, the vastness of the Plains with golden wheat as far as the eye can see. The majesty of the Rockies, the wonder of Yellowstone, the timing of Old Faithful. The Salt Flats of Utah, the breathtaking deepness of Grand Canyon, the heat of the California Desert, the tall enormously round Sequoia trees which one can drive a car through its trunk, and the beauty of the Pacific with its many tropical islands such as Hawaii. The sunsets of the panhandle of Texas as it slides below the curvature of the earth or the sunsets of Key West as the big orange ball is swallowed by the Gulf of Mexico all bring awe of our creator. God. It never fails to bring a song to the heart to realize and experience the presence of God as the human form is lost in all this overwhelming beauty. The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. (Psalm 65:8 NIV) Let this day be one you experience new and afresh the awe of God. Examine the intricacies of a web of a spider or busyness of an ant. Hold a newborn child or experience wildlife of a forest. Sit by a babbling brook or watch the water falls of the mighty Niagara or the trickle of a stream as it rolls gently over the smooth stones. See a squirrel as it jumps from limb to limb or closely observe the rabbit which runs through your yard who in winter leaves foot prints of its journey in the glistening white snow. Listen as the birds sing or the frog croaks. Watch the humming bird as it sucks nectar from a flower. Listen to the rhythm of the woodpecker as he hunts for food from the side of the tree. Observe the sparrow, God’s eye is upon him, too.God’s greatness is everywhere you look.“Songs of joy.” Selah Watch Hillsong UNITED Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) on YouTube: youtu.be/dy9nwe9_xzw
