Good morning everyone, my body and brain are still on EST but - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone, my body and brain are still on EST but nevertheless awake at 3:30 am :-) especially since we now have internet, I can get my much needed internet fix from all my favorite sights…yes, we all know that feeling… So last I left off we had arrived in Lordsburg, NW. The next morning up bright and early and what a beautiful drive it was along 1-10. If you havent done it , you must….beautiful!!! The rock formations and desert vegetation especially in the morning, was so scenic and depending on the altitude some parts where greener than others, some had cactus, others parts not so much. Anyway, we drove through Tucson, up to Phoenix and then on into Palm Springs. Sorry folks, nothing uncivilized or shocking to report, although I will say we did see lots of border patrol vehicles and people stopped along the way, and in fact the night before there was a checkpoint in New Mexico where everyone had to exit and they asked if were citizens of US. We arrived at our new house, which if you recall, I hadnt seen yet but Scott had and gave his blessing. This house was not on the market when we were out here last month and made offers on 2 others which didnt pan out. Our realtor Joe Woods, bless his heart (southern lingo which can be either a compliment or a middle finger depending upon the tone used. In this case , it a very strong compliment), had shown us over 20 houses that weekend. When this came on the market, he suggested and we offered full price to nab it. Scott then came out the following week to see what we had purchased :-) …crazy I know,k but hey its California real estate and snooze or low ball you will lose :-) … The house exceeded my expectations. It is perfect for us and although its 2 years old the Canadians that used it as a second home only spent 100 nights in total in it so everything is brand new. If you like architecture you really should come out to Palm Springs and check out the Alexander style. They also have a Modernism week in February and do tours of the homes…very unique and clever. So by this time, its dark and we want to get the mattress out of the truck, thrown it on the bedroom floor to sleep. Now, the smart thing would be to unhitch the trailer from the truck….Nope, no time for that Scott Gulledge we wont use the truck ramp we will hope on and off and leave the trailer hooked to the car. Yep, you guessed it I lost my footing and feel and hit my head on the front of the car trailer , landed on my right arm and shoulder. Nothing broken and just cut on my face but lucky nonetheless. My arm is still very sore and my hand is swollen but nothing that a few old pain killers from 5 years ago cant help. So yesterday was spent unpacking and Nancy Nelson you were right, some of the stuff we packed and bought are heading for the Palm Springs landfill. We did manage to have the truck unloaded by 11:00 am. We have internet and cable now and the dogs are happy as can be. Violence, the beagle is besides herself, running into the cactus and other desert plants as Scott takes out the spurs from her paws. The house seems big and the separate casita will be perfect for my home office….now to find a desk this weekend….didnt bring mine from Atlanta as we ran out of room in the Uhaul. The yard is not big by any stretch, but there will be plenty of room for Lucy on 11/22. Anyone thinking about a retirement place or is lucky like myself, and can work remotely consider Palm Springs. The housing market is still off its peak from 2010 but going up fast. The cable guy was telling us yesterday, that Palm Springs is really big for the Canadians having second homes. So Monique Boutot take note :-) …. Thats all folks, rather uneventful the last day but definitely well worth it. If you need a realtor or loan officer out there, Joe Woods and Tilford Brad are who we used and they were great, very patient and talked me off the ledge more than once :-) .
