Good morning students, My name is Nandee Shabazz and I am the secretary for the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at FIU. On October 23rd we are having our 3rd annual Hijab-a-Thon, an event where we invite the women of FIU to try on the hijab for a day, and talk about their experiences wearing it. There will be a dressing room session from 8am-2pm on October 23rd where we will give the girls the hijabs and show them how to wear it. That evening, from 7pm to 10pm we are having the banquet, where the women can talk about their experiences they had throughout the day, whether they were good or bad, and tell us how these experiences changed their perception of the Muslim women they see around campus. the event will also be in coordination with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so all the hijabs will be pink. I am posting this in hopes that you will share our event with your students, and encourage them to come out and participate in this very unique opportunity to learn something new about a religion that very few know about.
