Good news, bad news... BAD NEWS: I did NOT get selected for jury duty. I am pretty bummed because I truly wanted to experience the process. GOOD NEWS: Maybe I dodged a bullet as it was a child molestation case & I am sure listening to the evidence would have been heartbreaking! But I will say that the jury process is very frustrating. I was on time, dressed professionally, actively engaged & listening to the proceedings for two days, yet still dismissed within 5 minutes of being sat in the jury box. I was asked virtually no questions & given no explanation when I was dismissed by the prosecution. I felt like my dismissal must have been based on my appearance since all the questions required only yes/no answers. They had no other basis to make a decision. It is really frustrating to spend two full days in court only to be sent away with no explanation. How didnt I appear fair & impartial? There is no closure & I was left wondering why wasnt I good enough.
