Got a call today from a friend without a filet knife (he is not a fisherman) and he said he got some free fish from Trident Seafoods in Newport and needed help cleaning them. He says they were caught today. This sounding a little unusual, I volunteered to clean them out of pure curiosity, and noticed some strange things about these wild Chinook. No scales, not a single one. None of the fish had been bled out. All gills were intact. Meat was very bruised, not firm at all, and as you can see very bloody. Meat was so tender it fell off the bone, and the ribs pulled out without needing to use a knife. I thought it was all around strange, and worth sharing. Im curious why these fish were killed and not properly handled.
