Govt dissolves State Medical Faculty ARVIND SHARMA Jammu, Sept 13: The state government has dissolved Jammu and Kashmir State Medical Faculty and through an ordinance it has constituted Paramedical Council. Through an order Number, 515/ HME of 2013, the powers of the existing Jammu and Kashmir State Medical Faculty have been ceased and Paramedical Council has been constituted. Reliable sources told Greater Kashmir that Principal Government Medical College ( GMC) Srinagar, will be the President of the Paramedical Council, Principal Government Medical College Jammu will be the vice- president of the newly constituted council, while Dr Wasim Qureshi will be the Registrar. Sources said the decision is likely to impact over the papers of the Paramedical students which are scheduled to start on 16th of this month. “ State Medical faculty has already showed its reluctance and inability to conduct the exams. Our powers have been ceased. How can we conduct the exams?. Let the new council do the job”, they said while quoting the faculty members. “ Within such short span of time, it is not possible for the newly constituted council to conduct exams of the Paramedical students”. However, they also questioned the timing of dissolution of the State Medical Faculty and constitution of the Paramedical Council. “ The Assembly session is due to start on 30th of September. What was the need and hurry to bring in an ordinance?”, they questioned.
