Grafting In The Bible Grafting is a horticultural process of uniting two different [but genetically compatible] plants so that they grow as one i.e. surgically inserting a branch, or shoot, of one plant into the tissue of another; after the union heals, they are a single living entity. The purpose of grafting is most often to unite a root stock with grafted parts that together produce some desired result. Grafting has been known for thousands of years, and was well-known to the people of Bible History, mostly from olive trees. Some varieties of olive trees had very vigorous roots, but produced poor olives, and vice-versa, so branches from good quality olive trees were grafted onto olive trees of stronger root stock which together made an all-round superior olive tree. Grafting in the Holy Bible was used as an analogy of how, and why, Gentiles can become one with spiritual Israel. The engrafted word is used an analogy for those who have become believers in the Word of God. Human being belonged to Almighty God in the beginning, but because of Adams fault we got disconnected from God and connected to Satan. Thus, Satan became our root and we his branches. Therefore, God said we cannot bear good fruit because our root is bad. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Mathew 12: 34 To bear good fruit we should be cut off from the bad root [Satan] and grafted to the good root i.e Jesus. But, no tree can ever be grafted by itself. Hence, Jesus must do this grafting for us so that we can be saved forever. Thus, after we are grafted to Jesus Christ Who is the Good Root, we will bear good fruit. “For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the roots support you.” Romans 11: 16, 17, 18. The Bible says that there is nothing in us to be boast of because everything is from Jesus, and definitely not from us. Therefore our righteousness, holiness eternal love etc everything come from Jesus. As we are His branches, though we are wild, we are His partaker. Amen!
