Gratitude - Day 2: When people ask me how I am doing I generally do a brief evaluation out loud with them. “I was allowed to sleep inside last night. I’m mostly pain free or even fully pain free. I take no medications. I’ve had enough to eat today. I have no debt. I don’t have any sworn enemies I know of. I think I get to sleep inside tonight. I think I’m having a bonus day.” These realities are true most every day; some days I will have modest skirmishes with pain of unknown origin. Good health insurance which also pays for my YMCA membership. The freedom to go anywhere on earth at anytime without seeking permission, asking for time off, or borrowing money. Fulfilling reasons to get out of bed every day.
