I have the 2009 Malibu After a flurry of recent recalls, General Motors announced Monday they are planning to recall another 1.3 million vehicles in the United States that may experience a loss of electric power steering assist. GM made the announcement after the automotive giant informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Monday, according to a press release. The recall includes seven models by General Motors including: All 2004-2005 Chevrolet Malibu models, and some from 2006, 2008 and 2009 The 2004-2005 Chevrolet Malibu MAXX and some 2006 models Some 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet HHR models Some 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt models Some 2008-2009 Saturn Aura models All Saturn IONs models from 2004-2007 All 2005 Pontiac G6s and some from 2006, 2008 and 2009 Various parts installed in certain vehicles before May 31, 2010 GM will provide replacements free of charge to all vehicles affected in the recall; for those vehicles not affected, the automotive giant will be given lifetime warranties for replacement of the electronic power steering motor. The number of recalls for GM is now up to 6.1 million since February. The 2004-2007 Saturn ION, 2010 Chevy Cobalt and 2009-2010 HHR have already been included in various recalls for ignition switches that may not meet GM specification for torque performance.
