Great Spirit, Almighty Healer and Creator of all things, it is with humbled hearts that we gather together to offer up this prayer of thankfulness. We thank you, Father, for the winds that blow across the grassy plains. For the early morning stillness of the lakes and oceans, we thank you. We thank you for the song of the fliers in the early morning hours and the crickets under the shadow of night. We thank you for the bear, deer, moose and the elk of the forests; the goats that inhabit the mountains; the buffalo, horse and cattle of the plains; and the lizards, snakes and roadrunners of the deserts. We thank you for the soaring of the Eagles of the North and the Hawks of the South. We thank you for the clouds that bring shade on hot days, as well as the rain and snow that provide moisture to the soil. We thank you for the unique paths you have given to each of your children. We thank you for the many trials we endure in order to strengthen out spirit. For the many prophesies you have given to our ancestors that have survived the generations, we thank you. We thank you for our ancestors that continue to watch over us and provide us with the wisdom during our journey. We thank you for the understanding that all things are created with a purpose. We thank you for our family and friends that provide support for us when it is needed. We thank you for answered prayers and the many blessings you have bestowed upon your children. We thank you for precious gift of life. We thank you our Elders that continue to inspire us with their wisdom and lessons for the present. We thank you for our children that show us the importance of innocence and those lessons long forgotten. We thank you for friends that may come to us for a short time in order to provide the skills and wisdom needed during our life’s journey. We thank you for the cold, pure, rushing waters that make their way down from the snow-capped mountains that hydrate our bodies. We thank you for the many herbs and plants that serve to provide cures and nourishment. We thank you for the rainforests that give us the air to breathe. We thank you for the rising of Grandfather Sun each morning to warm us and light our path for another day. We thank you for Grandmother Moon that watches over us during our sleeping hours. We thank you for Father Sky as he protects us both day and night. For Mother Earth, who continues to struggle during these times, but still provides us with all of the necessary items to sustain life. We thank you for your love, forgiveness, discipline and comfort, doled out in even measures during certain times of our lives. Emenv
