Great news for the residents of Laurel Valley! Apparently, there is no charge for taking your kids to the United School District! Remember how we were told we would be charged $7,500/child? Turns out it isnt true. All you have to do is lie about your children living with some aunt in the United district when you enroll your child, then drive them to school or over the county line to catch their bus. Thats it! We have watched the people across the street do this twice every morning since the beginning of the school year. Every morning. The stupid kids BRAGGED to friends they were going to United illegally. They live ACROSS THE STREET from, not one, but TWO employees of the Ligonier School District. This has been reported to the administration of both schools. Many times. In the fall, one principal from the Ligonier district came and witnessed it himself. The United principal was invited but didnt bother to show. And it still continues!! At first I gave the schools the benefit of the doubt and thought they might wait until after the holidays. Nope! In the fall, the principal told the dad this was going to have to stop. Then a scary certified letter was sent. And still, every day, the kids are taken in the morning and come home at the end of the day. I dont know who is more stupid...the United school district for letting just anyone into their school for free or all of us putting our kids on an hour long bus ride each way and driving an hour round trip to take them to practices and pick them up. If the United district is throwing away $15,000 every year by letting this continue they may not be in any better financial position than Ligonier, but it would be a lot closer to send our kids to them.
