Great time today at a members day at Greystones Farm nature reserve in Bourton-on-the-Water. The site includes a rare late Iron Age oppidum and an earlier Iron Age double ditch enclosure, as well as a Roman settlement (picked up a bit of samian while we were walking round). First pic shows a gateway that has been in continuous use for over 6000 years. Third photo is a green lane which looks very like an Anglo-Saxon hollow way to me. Skyline photo is of the oppidum boundary: the defensive ditch is still just visible in the ground - an amazing survival. Apparently someone from English Heritage says the site is more important than Stonehenge!
