Greed is Good has been the mantra since the 80s. The underlying brainwashing of WW1 and WW2 has been lost - The patriotic songs and labor movement anthems are no longer sung in public schools. I knew I was being brainwashed as a child - I could see how it worked - but I could also see that such socializing of caring about society and each other was a good thing. The Libertarian Ayn Rand brainwashing, the inculcated hatred of doing anything together as a society is tearing our country down. Nobody talks about the pride in doing great things together - as JFK did - any more. The ACA should be a proud accomplishment for America - on our way to single payer healthcare for all - but look how it is fought against. Nobody talks about the benefits to society of preventative care, about how todays bad health of our children is literally a national security risk - not only due to people being too unhealthy to go into our military, but due to absolutely predictable horrendous health care costs from premature chronic illnesses - costs that can bankrupt our country.. This is the most unhealthy our nation has ever been - yet people do not see why we need universal healthcare. It is such mind blowing ignorance and selfishness. We are hurting ourselves and oblivious to the actual cost-benefit analysis - simple math should justify universal healthcare - investing in ourselves for the good of our whole country. But Americans today are too damn stupid to even understand why paid sick days are worthwhile. Right wing brainwashing that employers are heroes and should make all the rules - the opposite of the brainwashing I grew up with, which said that labor is an important voice in America - Right wing brainwashing resulted in what we heard from the crowd at the Republican presidential debate, when the audience chanted Let them die! Let them die! Do you remember that? Do you see how brainwashing works? There will always be brainwashing, but for heavens sake - think about what that brainwashing results in. A better country, or a worse one?
