Green Army’s Nottinghamshire’s Open’ what a day and what an open with a great turnout of 30 ladies and 121 Men from all over the country including, Cheshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Yorkshire, West Midlands, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, which included the 2013 Champion David Bird (Cheshire) and former England Internationals and PDC Stars compete to be crowned Nottingham 2014 champion David left the proceeding in the last 32 when he went down to Tony Randell (Worcestershire) 4-1 with Tony (The last Double16 champion - 2009) leaving in the next round went he lost out in a last leg shot out against Carl Wilkinson (Yorkshire) also losing out at the last sixteen was Eddie Lovely (Lincolnshire), Steve Rumble and Tom Gregory (Yorkshire), John Esam, Neil Birkin, Chris Hill and Chris Cooper (all Nottinghamshire), in last eight Jock Watt and Chris Fidler (Lincolnshire), Paul Harvey (Nottinghamshire) and Carl Wilkinson (Yorkshire) all losing out, in the semis the spectators was treated to a 18 leg shoot out when both of semis went to a last leg shoot out firstly former England International Ian Jones (West Midlands) losing out 5-4 and then another former England International Jay Forman lost out 5-4, then the final was set with Loz Barnes (Nottinghamshire) losing out in to the Coral’s 2014 British Open Star Aden Kirk (Nottinghamshire), In the ladies Kirsty Handford (Derbyshire) was crowned champion after wins over Julie Pitchford, Sharon Woolley (Nottinghamshire), Karen Staton (Lincolnshire) and beating Casey Horspool (Cambridgeshire) in the semi-final before facing Helen Harvey (Nottinghamshire) in the final who she beat 4-2 Helen had beaten Margaret Bamford, Sarah Brent (Nottinghamshire), Mem Martin (Leicestershire) and beating Tracey Johnson (Nottinghamshire) in the semi-final before losing to Kirsty and couple thanks must go Andy Walsh and all his table done a ‘Top Class’ job all day well done Andy and all the lads & lassies, the staff of the Royals Royce for ‘watering & feeding’ us all day and lastly on a personnel note thanks to all the double16 members and the other players coming over to me and Baggie Gill enquiring about my recent health problems I’m getting there buts it’s gonna be a long haul.
