Greetings USS LaSalle LPD/AGF-3 Association Shipmate! We hope to see you October 7-12, 2014 for our 6th Reunion in Norfolk! We are offering for sale reunion tee shirts: The shirts are light gray with Navy Blue lettering. The front will show USS LASALLE REUNION; the LaSalle Crest will show on the anchor crossbar LPD/AGF-3; REUNION 2014, NORFOLK, Virginia. The back will show USS LASALLE REUNION then listing 2004 Charleston, 2006 San Antonio, 2008 Mystic, 2010 Gettysburg, 2012 Rapid City, 2014 Norfolk. Pricing: $19.00 each for sizes small to XLarge. An additional $1.50 will be needed for each X over the XL. We need full payment sent to Arnet Hagen, 1430 S West Camano Drive, Camano Island, WA 98282, not later than 8/29/2014 so that we will have our order on time. The shirts will be distributed at the Registration Desk when you sign in at the Reunion. Should a shipmate not make the Reunion, the shirt(s) may be mailed for an additional $10.00 S&H. We are asking for item donations (USS LaSalle or any military) that will be raffled off at 5 tickets for $5.00, the winner may choose whatever item has not been claimed. Please let us know if you can donate an item. Thank you. There will be a boat tour of the Naval Base and Harbor on Friday. Several other activities will be available. There is a possibility (thanks to Captain Meadows) to tour the Naval Base and should an LPD be docked, perhaps to tour that ship. There will be a Memorial Service on the USS Wisconsin. Please let us know if you are aware of any shipmates that have passed so that we may honor at the Memorial Service on the USS Wisconsin. Thank you. Our Saturday Banquet Night, our Guest Speaker is David E. Meadows, Capt., USN (Ret). Capt. Meadows retired after 38 years of active service. Prior to retirement, he was Deputy Commander, U.S. Naval Security Group, Ft. Meade, MD. Captain Meadows was aboard the LaSalle in Gaeta, Italy while assigned to staff duty. He was to have been our speaker at LaSalles 1st Reunion in Charleston, but duty called ... he speaks Arabic and French! Capt. Meadows is working on his 16th military novel; his website is very extensive with a complete bio and book reviews. Should any of our shipmates have one or more of his books, hell gladly autograph. Howard V. Lee, LtCol, USMC (ret) may attend our Reunion. He is a Medal of Honor Recipient (Viet Nam) and was aboard the LaSalle during our first Med Cruise (1964/65) and during the DomRep Crisis 1965. Were hoping that he will be able to attend, it will be a tremendous honor for our Association Shipmates to meet LtCol Lee. Please check the internet for his information. 100% of money received from the Raffle Item Donations and a reasonable percentage from the tee-shirt sales goes directly to our USS LaSalle Association ... we need support from our Shipmates to keep our Association functioning properly.
