Greetings from a still hot and uncomfortable Eastleigh on the eve - TopicsExpress

Greetings from a still hot and uncomfortable Eastleigh on the eve of Trinity 6. Giving thanks for the gift of electricity enabling the use of fans and the gifts of cold, fresh drinks and the ability to keep food. Thanking God for those engineers, organisations and volunteers, who give their services in areas of the world where there is no easy water supply for drinking and cooking, trying to bring pipelines within reach of communities. During times of extreme weather conditions, we remember all those who are alone, infirm or disabled, that the rest of us may act in community, to try to bring them what they need and to assure them that they are not alone and have others to call on. Continuing to pray for the people of South Sudan as their country descends further into crisis, and food shortage reaches disaster proportions. May people of all humanity, not have to walk 60miles simply to find food and water, when there should be enough in the world to share with everyone. We remember with sorrow, all who have lost their lives in recent aircraft crashes. Asking God to comfort and sustain all who have lost dear ones and who seek answers and closure in their grief. May they know the loving hand of God upon them, especially for those left without the breadwinner of the household, or who have lost a parent or partner. Thinking with compassion for all the peoples of the Middle East, who feel the fear and hopelessness of war and bombardment. Remembering especially the elderly and children, who are least to blame for bitterness and war, yet who are often those who suffer the most and are the least able to provide for themselves. May there be a willingness on ALL sides to speak words, and show deeds, of peace. Remembering all those who lost their lives and loved ones in the horror of the First World War, that their sacrifice and that of their dear ones may never be forgotten by those who come after. May we all remember at this time of anniversary, and resolve always to do whatever we each can, to promote a love of peace and harmony and a rejection of all warlike action. Asking Gods blessing on all who are about to take holidays to find rest and re-creation. May God keep all safe in their travels to and from home, and may He grant them quiet, enjoyment and renewal of strength. For those unable to afford holidays, may they find times at home for recreation, especially asking for God to give wisdom and a sense of service, to all those who give their time and talents, to offer activities to children and families of difficult means. May those activities give young people a sense of belonging and achievement through sport, play and learning. May God bless all those visiting choirs and musicians who will give their time and musical talent through the Summer, to provide music and worship during services, when normal choirs are on holiday. May it be a time of enjoyment, learning and spirituality for those who sing and play and, for those who hear them. May they feel welcomed in our churches and cathedrals and may they also travel in safety. May God bless us ALL this night and always. X
