If you are interested in volunteering to assist the Vet’s and MoHS Staff please contact Hoala at the clinic 558-0000. State permits are required, so advanced notice is mandatory. Web Site: Anyone interested in helping with our Web Site revitalization? It is still under way and we are still hoping to have a new site by the second quarter of this fiscal year. We are once again looking for those old and new pictures to enhance the site. If anyone has pictures or articles of interest please contact Hoala at 558-0000 or stop by the clinic. Mayor’s Budget Hearing: On September 23rd the Mayor and all of his Department Heads were on Molokai to listen to our budget requests for the 2016 budget. The new format proved not only beneficial but what a time saver. We were able to quickly meet with our Representative Jan Shishido. With available time, we were able to meet with David Ching to discuss funding options for a new facility and with the new Police Sergeant at the Molokai Station to discuss and coordinate better transfer with Animal Control. Speaking for the Molokai Humane Society the new format was a BIG success. On Going Fundraising: The Engraving Machine has been busy; many tags are still available at the introductory offer of $5.00, hurry while supply lasts. Every day at the Clinic as well as selling vaccines we have many other items for sale to assist in covering our cost of operation such as Molokai Humane Society Logoed: Shopping Bags, Coozie Cups as well as Dog and Cat Collars While dining, dancing or just having fun at Paddler’s Inn ask your server for the “Molokai Humane Society’s Shake-A-Day” opportunity to win a beer for a buck. Shake three of a kind and Paddler’s will donate a beer to you and we get the buck. Did you know you can donate to MoHS every time you make a purchase from “Amazon”? Homestead Spay & Neuter Program: This program provides K9 sterilization surgeries for $5, and also includes a 30 day dose of flea and tick preventatives as an incentive. This is a two year program, and we hope that this will make a large impact to our homestead community. Help spread the word. Fostering Program: We continue to move forward with our “Fostering Program” even though it is without funding. We have been able to benefit from the huge hearts of our supporters. We are attempting to work out a plan with Animal Control and the Maui Humane Society to find a long term solution for the many abandoned animals of Molokai. The Molokai Ferry and the ladies at HARF have been very helpful in our attempt to save more lives. We are still looking to the community for volunteers to take in animals for short periods of time. Please call the Clinic if you are able to open up your homes, at 558-0000 Welcome Back and Welcome: We’d all like to “Welcome Back” Mahea who has finally returned from knee surgery and rehabilitation, we truly missed her.
