Greg Allen Herman December 11, 1963 - June 05, 2014 Harshaw, Wisconsin Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. June 22, 2014 at Carlson Funeral Home Visitation: 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. June 21, 2014 at Carlson Funeral Home Interment: June 22, 2014 at Union Grove Cemetery - Harshaw Greg Allen Herman, age 50, lifelong resident of Harshaw, died on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the family homestead. He was born on December 11, 1963, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin to Thomas and Dorothy (Busche) Herman. Greg graduated from Rhinelander Union High School and Nicolet College and attended North Central Technical College. He was employed with the Institute of Forest Genetics in Rhinelander and for the last 20 years, was employed by Asplundh Tree Expert Company where he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. When not working his regular job, Greg helped out on the family farm and was always there for his friends and neighbors when they needed a helping hand. His pride and joy were his son JT (Joel Thomas) and his dog, Colonel. He was a tinker who was forever fixing something. Greg was also a fisherman and deer hunter. He lived for the late fall deer season and began preparing months in advance. He will be remembered as always easy going and mild mannered. He showed incredible strength and dignity fighting his illness for the last five years and set an example for those around him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Greg is survived by his son, JT Herman of Sioux Falls, SD; his mother, Dorothy of Harshaw; six sisters, Judith (Roger) Wiff of Spring Valley, WI, Sandra (Joel) Herum of River Falls, WI, Cindy (David) Schmitz of Rhinelander, Sharon (Ken) Kremsreiter of Harshaw, Laura (Robin Capen) Herman of Harshaw, and Gay (Jeff Christensen) Herman of Cottage Grove, MN; four brothers, John (Jody) Herman of Rhinelander, Peter (Donna) Herman of Menomonie, WI, Richard (Kelly) Herman of Harshaw, and Glen (Mindy) Herman of Harshaw, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas on September 8, 2012; a brother, Ben; and his loyal dog companion, Colonel. A memorial service for Greg will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) with Deacon Michael Harvey officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Carlson Funeral Home and from 12 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday. Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw.
